According to an officer involved in a July 2009 DUI arrest, the day was "hot" and he was feeling "lazy" when he and his partner pulled over a female drunk-driving suspect. If the police duo's reports about that day are true, however, the officer was not feeling lazy enough to decide against engaging in sexual activity with the "bikini-clad" DUI suspect.

In order to avoid being fired, both officers resigned from the Phoenix Police Department following an internal investigation into the incident. And last week, the officer who admits to having had sexual contact with the DUI suspect had his certification revoked and can, therefore, no longer work as a police officer in Arizona. The second officer who did not engage in the sexual activity but failed to report it has not yet had is certification revoked, but that is a possibility in the future.

Once the officers' inappropriate activity came to light within the department, the involved officers admitted to what had happened. They reported that they pulled over the 23-year-old woman based on their suspicion that she was responsible for a hit-and-run accident and was driving drunk. According to their reports, the officers pulled her over, and then they all headed to a parking lot in order to complete legal paperwork, which is when and where "groping and fondling" occurred.

Even though the officer argued that the sexual activity was "consensual," that clarification makes no difference regarding his employment within the Phoenix Police Department. According to the department's policies, law enforcement officers are prohibited from engaging in "on-duty" sex of any kind. Our resource provides no word from the female drunk driving suspect involved in the 2009 incident that led to the officers' resignations.
