Our last post shared the story of a recent multiple-homicide case in Lake Havasu. Not many details about the case were available at the time, but now that the only surviving victim of the shootings is able to talk and officials have been able to investigate, more details are being released.

The one survivor of the suspected domestic violence case that turned fatal was a guest at a birthday party for a friend of her daughter's. Her daughter was shot and killed at the party, along with the other four guests at the celebration. The survivor, now the only witness, was reportedly shot in the neck but was strong enough to be able to call Arizona police after the incident occurred.

She remains hospitalized now and is reported to be in "fair" condition. Now she and the Arizona community wherein the violent crime took place are left trying to understand and recover from what happened.

What investigators have shared regarding possible motive behind the shootings is that the shooter had a romantic history with one of the female guests at the birthday party. They had two kids together, and the woman had recently taken out a restraining order against her ex -- her kids' father. He was not supposed to try to see nor contact his ex and their young children.

The protective order was the result of a domestic violence charge pending against the suspect, charges to which he had pleaded not guilty. Neither his guilt nor innocence in that case, however, will ever be decided by a court because he took his own life after the fatal shooting.

The suspect and his deceased ex's two kids are safe and with family at this time. We will post an update when more details about this case develop, possibly including whether the suspect legally owned the gun used in the crime.
