It is no secret that spouses argue. Family dynamics are some of the most emotional, complex and passionate that exist. Many Arizona domestic violence cases and others throughout the country start with reported arguments between spouses.
A recent Arizona case is no different. Sources report that a husband and wife were verbally arguing about their marriage. The argument somehow ended with the wife getting injured and their daughter calling the police. The husband is being accused of aggravated assault but claims that his wife's injury was a mistake.
According to news reports, the 61-year-old suspect and his wife's recent argument ended in their home's garage. The daughter called police to report that her mom had been struck in the head with a drill. Central in this domestic assault case is whether the husband intentionally hit his wife with the drill. He reportedly told authorities that the wife was accidentally hit by the object when he threw it toward the garage.
Domestic violence matters often become cases of he-said-she-said. The drill that authorities found at the scene of the incident has been collected as evidence and will reportedly be investigated to try to determine the nature of the alleged victim's injury. It's important for authorities -- and the public -- to never assume that a domestic violence charge means that the defendant is definitely guilty of the crime. False allegations are not uncommon in this specific area of law. Being that accusations of domestic violence can significantly damage a person's name, every assault suspect needs and deserves an aggressive criminal defense.
