There are some people who, for whatever reason, wind up in the limelight due to legal hardship on quite a consistent basis. Often, those people are athletes or celebrities. But in another case, it's a celebrity father, Michael Lohan.

Back in March, Lohan was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence against his then fiancée. And after last week, some in the public are left scratching their heads wondering, "Is this déjà vu?" Again, Lohan was arrested for domestic violence against the same younger woman, and this time a judge is taking the infamous father's alleged actions a bit more seriously.

Since the March domestic violence arrest, Lohan's ex was granted a temporary restraining order against the notorious public figure. Last week, Lohan was arrested in Florida after his ex-girlfriend reported that he had physically assaulted her in her apartment and done damage to her property. He was arrested and later released on bail.

But his freedom was short-lived.

After he was released, his ex called to report that Lohan had contacted her, which, if true, goes against court orders. When authorities arrived to arrest Lohan for the alleged violation, he reportedly tried to escape law enforcement and injured himself in doing so.

Of course, there are at least two sides to every story, and Lohan has insisted to a judge that he was not the one who contacted his ex; she contacted him. Officials will be able to verify the actual order of events by looking at phone records and comparing stories.

If an investigation suggests that Lohan did violate the restraining order, he would likely face an extra criminal charge. He could face jail time, probation, fines and be required to attend counseling. It's an offense that can lead to serious consequences, which is why it's necessary for him and any suspect in his sort of situation to rely on an aggressive and experienced criminal defense attorney.
