Words have power. A person can't just go around saying things and accusing someone of something if it isn't true. People do that all of the time despite its unethical and sometimes illegal nature. Many will stand for falsehoods being said about them, but others decide to tackle supposed wrongdoers.

It shouldn't be a surprise that former wrestling star Hulk Hogan wouldn't stand for things being said about him without a fight. Recent reports indicate that the wrestler-turned-reality-star is suing his ex-wife Linda Bollea after she smeared his name with domestic violence allegations. He wants a jury to hear his case.

According to sources, Hogan argues that things that his wife has said and written about him in her book have damaged his reputation. In his line of work, reputation is very important. His image makes him a living, and he's spent decades shaping it. He claims that his ex trashed his reputation so she could make some money off of her book and media appearances.

Hogan insists that he did not abuse Bollea during their 24-year marriage. In her book, she wrote that she was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of the former pro-wrestler and that she lived in fear of him. This is a supposed side of the former couple's relationship that was never evident on their VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best."

What Hogan specifically wants out of this lawsuit against his ex is unspecified. But it isn't hard to understand why someone would fight back if a lie regarding domestic violence were said of him. Accusations of spousal abuse not only can land someone in serious legal trouble, but they can forever change the way society views a person. Hogan has been known as the all-American, lovable wrestler. If the accusations of abuse are false, Bollea's reports are more than lies. They are career-changers.
